• Over twelve weeks students will be guided towards finalizing a major body of photographic work (and/or expanded media).
• This module introduces you to global themes and debates that are fundamental to the study of the image, ideas of looking and subjectivity, and the contexts and institutions within which we view the photographic image.
• The University has a wide range of books and academic journals on their online library, which is a great tool for wider reading and including supporting evidence and references in our essays.
• The new camera sticks with the 60MP BSI CMOS sensor of the Mark IV, but just about everything else has been given a boost, with advanced AF, focus stacking and a new rear screen arrangement.
• Both lenses are fully manual and offer roughly 35mm equiv focal lengths.
• This module aims to further establish key processes, skills and methodologies fundamental to photographic activity.

The purpose of photography can vary depending on what the photographer is trying to achieve. For example, documentary and news photographers capture images for the purpose of providing detailed account of actual events, while hobbyist photographers aim to capture life moments with their families and friends. They’re quicker and easier to use, not to mention their seamless integration with social media. It only makes sense to get a dedicated camera if your phone isn’t good enough for the photos you want (like photographing sports or low-light environments) or if you’re specifically interested in photography as a hobby.

Tourism and photography combine to create a “tourist gaze”in which local inhabitants are positioned and defined by the camera lens. However, it has also been argued that there exists a “reverse gaze” through which indigenous photographees can position the tourist photographer as a shallow consumer of images. Wildlife photography involves capturing images of various forms of wildlife. Unlike other forms of photography such as product or food photography, successful wildlife photography requires a photographer to choose the right place and right time when specific wildlife are present and active. It often requires great patience and considerable skill and command of the right photographic equipment.

Digital cameras use an electronic image sensor based on light-sensitive electronics such as charge-coupled device or complementary metal-oxide-semiconductor technology.
